about

This past month, January, an Australian summer, has been a curious period of classically beautiful weather that provided the opportunity for morning swims and city bike rides amidst a time that was also very quiet and absent of people in many of the usual populated spots.

I was afforded the opportunity then to swim, to ride, to walk across a solitary landscape and think up musical ideas and problems that I could then return home to tinker with in my studio in the backyard. The sound palette I went for was almost exclusively generated by my Moogs, which created some nice exercises in structural minimalism as I tried to subtract rather than add.

One other thing that I did for this little album was create a video clip for each song, having a bit of fun hamming it up for some excursions across the city. My daughter helped me film the performance of Patet on the site of the old Newcastle bowling club, long gone, that overlooks the ocean.

I hope you enjoy :) Thank you as always for your generosity and support.

about

Wrenasmir Newcastle, Australia

Wrenasmir used to be a baroque pipe organist before he discovered samplers and synthesizers. Now he makes imaginary soundtracks in his studio for the twilight beachside city that lives in his head - full of vinyl and pixels and bittersweet memories.
